At this point, Norman has a great marketing campaign outlined. But in order for it to be truly effective, he needs to take things one step further by determining how leads will be qualified throughout the process. Adding in this extra element will allow him to better utilize his salespeople by bringing them into the sales process only when qualified prospective customers are identified.
As a note, stages one and five have been left out of this model. Though all companies should have a plan for addressing post-purchase follow-up, it’s up to you to determine whether or not it’s worth your company’s time to try to reach buyers in the first stage of the process. It can be difficult to convince people that they have a problem if they haven’t already felt it themselves, but if you’re selling a new type of product that meets a previously unrealized need, you might want to focus your energy on this area.

Recommendations: Display recommendations for similar products on your payment confirmation page post-purchase to instantly “upsell” your customers on another add-on, plug-in, or accompanying product. Customers who have just spent money in your store are more likely to buy again, so take advantage of this. E-Commerce giants such as Amazon suggest recommendations in an incredibly sophisticated manner, and indication of how profitable they consider them to be.
An increasingly common practice for marketing, sales, and customer service and experience managers is to “flip the funnel” into a customer experience funnel. This funnel outlines the process of turning customers into advocates, which in turn refuels the top of the marketing funnel by driving awareness and lead generation. Not only will your visitors appreciate this, but Google will reward you. After all, they’re in the business of selling ads. As we mentioned, pagespeed is now factored into Landing Page Experience (one of the three core components of Quality Score). If you speed up your landing pages, you’ll see higher Quality Scores, an improved Ad Rank, and larger Search Impression Share (your ads will show more often).

If you commit to serving your customers and prospects (beyond just selling to them) not only will you realize increased sales, repeat business and happier customers; you will also achieve a less erratic sales processes.

”It wasn’t like we invented AMP because we wanted to control everything, like people assume,” he says. Instead, he argues, go back and look at how dire the state of the mobile web was a few years ago, before AMP’s inception. It sucked — in fact, Nilay Patel published a story on this very website titled “The mobile web sucks” in 2015. He was right. Apple and Facebook dealt with that problem by creating proprietary formats and then convinced publishers to distribute their news in those formats on their platforms. As Nilay wrote:

Time has become a top 3 obstacle to success for sales professionals and anyone trying to grow their business results. This book helped my identify and accept that I am being held back because of my attitude and choices about my time. AMP’s biggest advantage isn’t the library—you can beat that on your own. It isn’t the AMP cache—you can get many of those optimizations through a good build script, and all of them through a decent CDN provider. That’s not to say there aren’t some really smart things happening in the AMP JS library or the cache—there are. It’s just not what makes the biggest difference from a performance perspective.

Load time is provided as “fully loaded time” by default (the time from when the visitor initially navigated to the page until 2 seconds after there’s no network activity). “Onload time” is optional (when the web page has finished processing and all of the resources on the page, including images, text, and scripts, have finished downloading). The remainder of the report is divided into six different sections: PageSpeed, YSlow, waterfall, timings, video, and history.
Big problem: Manufacturing and retail businesses that need more international orders to add cash to their bottom line but who don’t have the budget/willingness to recruit and train their own international sales teams. These businesses are worried about failing in export and losing their investment or have failed in the past and need a sure-fire international team to ensure their success.
Make no mistake, creating a sales and marketing funnel using the process described above is no easy feat. This isn’t a project you’re going to complete in one afternoon—it’s a pursuit that you’ll want to actively address as long as your company is in business. It’s not a simple undertaking, but it’s one of the few opportunities you have to drive significant improvements in your efficiency and effectiveness when closing deals.

Implementing a smart marketing funnel for a business is not something you’d easily categorize as a one-size-fits-all project. It can greatly vary based on the vertical, business model, campaign end goal, and other factors. Just as the nature of each website can be different (ecommerce, service oriented, digital product shops, SaaS, blogs, personal sites, local business websites, etc.), providing the content for each stage of the funnel should be different too.
Or, are you a leader, an adventurer or an evangelist? How you position yourself is entirely up to you, but your message must be consistent throughout your entire "pitch" and it needs to be steeped in the truth. Your backstory, and just how you convey that through parables, character flaws and polarity, has much to do with just how well you can "hook" in your prospects to create a mass movement.
When you’re attending events or doing live presentations, there are a few ways to incorporate video to make your presentation or displays more interactive. With the rise of virtual reality and augmented reality, hands-on video content is a great way to attract people’s attention. VR and AR provide your audience with more control and more active viewing. These types of presentations are a bit more technical but are a guaranteed way to stand out among a sea of static displays.

Take the time to go through your site and make a list of any hesitations you believe visitors may have based on the information already available. Critically evaluate your site in this step—don’t just assume that the visitor will be able to find the answers. You want to ensure everything is easily accessible. Once you’ve done this, provide a solution to the problems you uncovered. Not only will this increase conversions across your site, but it will also make it more user-friendly.

Sure, you need to be compensated for your time and knowledge. But far too many business owners, especially those in the professional service industries, don’t give enough education and information upfront. When you give more information than you’re comfortable with, you are empowering your customers and actually drawing them closer to your business.
