The tool helps to identify the next-best actions for website speed optimization tactics. In the sample test shown above, the tested website needs to fix some errors for requests that aren’t being found. However, it’s important to understand that optimizing these website design elements is an ongoing and evolving process that starts from the ground-level of website development and implemented across all new pages as the website scales.
No matter what kind of purchase we’re making or how much we intend to spend, all of us follow a relatively similar path when it comes to deciding what to buy. This buying process was first introduced by John Dewey in 1910, but even now — more than 100 years later — it’s still the foundation of understanding buyer behavior and marketing funnel creation.

Your success in selling is about getting results and that means getting your products into the hands of more customers. A great salesperson knows how to get the customer's attention and present their product or service in a way that causes the customer to buy. Don’t confuse results with efforts. You don't try to get an appointment -- you either get it or you don't.
Think of a time when you tweeted at a company, or commented on a brand’s Facebook page – and the company actually responded to you personally. What effect did this have on your perception of that brand? I’ll wager it became significantly more favorable. Providing fast, honest answers to questions that potential customers have about your offerings is an excellent way to increase sales, as the more attention you are perceived as paying to potential customers, the more likely people are to want to buy from you. This also results in unsolicited social feedback among users themselves – the kind of brand exposure and “advertising” you just can’t buy (well, not in a way that sounds legitimate, anyway).
There is a tutorial on the A List Apart website that discussed how to go about creating a completely fluid/scalable website, much like you would have with an old school table but instead built entirely with divs. I had been desperate to try this in a live production site for some time, and the hobo blog provided me with this opportunity. Grab the corner of your browser window and resize the website to watch the elements flow around each other.
The strategies used to gather information tend to vary based on the size and scope of the purchase. Recognizing that you’re hungry, for example, might result in a quick Yelp search for restaurants in your area. Deciding which provider to use to place a new in-ground pool at your home might involve calling around, reading company reviews online, visiting showrooms, and talking with salespeople.
Highlight the benefits (rather than the features) of your product/service. When pitching, too many people tend to focus on the cool features of their products or services instead of the benefits. A feature is how your product or service creates the result. A benefit is what changes after the result is accomplished. Customers make purchasing decisions based on the emotions they associate with the benefits.
A Mr. E. St. Elmo created the first “purchase model” way back in 1898 in an effort to systematize the sales process and, ultimately, improve results. He developed a model that mapped a theoretical customer journey from the moment a product attracted a consumer’s attention to the point of action or purchase. His model has guided marketers and sales teams for nearly a century.

Become an authority in your industry and/or region. If you're known far and wide for being an industry expert, you'll have prospects seeking you out rather than the other way around. Consider planning lunch and learn sessions or organizing webinars on a regular basis. As your brand recognition grows, you may even attract inbound links to your site which will benefit your SEO.
Fantastic post, I loved it and took a lot of it into consideration for ideas to incorporate. I’m a Front end web developer, I’m seeking to market myself as a designer and offer package deals for customers, I have yet to release my deals, in the past I’ve tried to develop websites for clients for free for cross promotion marketing and trade, unfortunately I always ended up putting together worthy projects and they under-delivered. I was so frustrated I couldn’t understand why they didn’t care about my success and I was doing my best in making their website and conversion rate successful. I then decided to offer these deals so that my clients can easily decide what package best fits their situation, do you have any tips to help maximize the the amount of packages I can potentially sale, or to better close the larger package deals?
In a blog post today, Google is announcing that it’s formally embarking on a project to convince the group in charge of web standards to adopt technology inspired by its Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) framework. In theory, it would mean that virtually any webpage could gain the same benefits as AMP: near-instantaneous loading, distribution on multiple platforms, and (critically) more prominent placement on Google properties.
Thanks Matt, yes that’s right. Regarding leads it’s both really! I certainly want to generate more of the right niche/ quality prospects. In short there are 2 distinctly areas; general enquiries which I have a good process for ( but could be improved) the biggest challenge is taking colder leads through the funnel. The sales process can sometimes be quite long, so whilst a well placed offer can work to get someone over line. It’s not very strong for those who are researching etc, hence I need advice about funnel building for regular front of mind contact plus education and industry authority. Does that make sense? Thanks Pete
