Selling is like anything else—persistence pays off. You don’t want to be pushy, but you also want to be diligent in your follow-up, both pre-sale and after-sale if necessary. Show customers that you genuinely care about their experience and want to help them. Thats because so many other retailers couldn't care less about their customers. Consistently making small personalized contact can go a long way toward increasing your sales. In many ways, making a sale is a courtship, and there’s nothing wrong with “wooing” customers as long as you’re honest and forthright.
Browsers cache a lot of information (stylesheets, images, JavaScript files, and more) so that when a visitor comes back to your site, the browser doesn't have to reload the entire page. Use a tool like YSlow to see if you already have an expiration date set for your cache. Then set your "expires" header for how long you want that information to be cached. In many cases, unless your site design changes frequently, a year is a reasonable time period. Google has more information about leveraging caching here.
QUOTE: “To make our results more useful, we’ve begun experiments to make our index mobile-first. Although our search index will continue to be a single index of websites and apps, our algorithms will eventually primarily use the mobile version of a site’s content to rank pages from that site, to understand structured data, and to show snippets from those pages in our results. Of course, while our index will be built from mobile documents, we’re going to continue to build a great search experience for all users, whether they come from mobile or desktop devices.
So either you buy a Landing Page builder (which does not have copywriting packages integrated – no other tool does) or if sometime back if you had bought a Landing Page builder, you go to the control panel of your computer, find it, open it, and start watching the tutorials on how to use this apparently Easy to use (but outdated and in reality really complicated) tool.
You only reach the advocacy stage of your marketing funnel once your customers become fans. As opposed to merely being a business from which they can buy products, you want to be a brand that they talk about and share with their friends. How? By offering them the same kind of high-quality content you provided them with initially but tailored to their customer-type.
Email addresses, especially relevant ones, are one of the most powerful resources in digital marketing. Not only do you know what your target audience is interested in, now you have a way to follow up with them with whatever content works best with your audience — newsletters, special offers, educational piecesm or anything else. The sky’s the limit.
Database performance is critical for websites maintaining dynamic content pulled from back-end databases. A mechanism should be in place to detect and alert for inaccuracies in data transmission. Keeping an eye on free disk space on servers hosting websites locally helps avoid errors and data losses that lead to broken links and eventually degrade website performance.
That’s not to say that everybody should just trust Google completely to have the open web’s best interests at heart. The company certainly benefits more than its competitors from a strong and vibrant web and is so influential over the web that it sometimes looks like domination. Google could stand to be a little more cognizant of those realities when it talks about the web.
Wrangle Your Javascript and Stylesheets – Have your scripts and CSS load in external files instead of cramping up each and every web pages. This way, the browser only has to load the files one time, rather than every time someone visits each page of your site. Ideally, put your external CSS in theportion of your site, and your external Javascript file as close to the tag as possible. This way, the browser isn’t bogged down wading through all those requests for external files right from the start. The only time you won’t want to do this is if the Javascript needs to load near the top of the page – such as to display a name or load up an image carousel.
Creating a clothing line or new brand can seem easy. They’re just clothes. But there is a lot more to a clothing brand than design. factories can be hard to source. Many of them won’t take large orders. Then you have to pay for samples over and over again to get each sample right. Then how do you sell it? Where do you sell it? What should my logo be? What about packaging…… the list goes on and on and it’s a daunting, long process.
I mentioned earlier that the sales funnel goes beyond the first purchase. You don’t want customers to buy once and then forget about you. You want them to buy again and become long-term customers who are loyal to your brand. You want them to recommend you to other people – both online and offline – who might also be interested in what you have to offer.

Let the Network Carry the Load – If your site is extremely popular but you’re still having trouble getting your page load down to size, consider a Content Delivery Network (CDN) like Amazon Cloudfront. Content Delivery Networks work by serving pages depending on where the user is located. Faster access to a server near their geographical area means they get the site to load sooner.
Kahneman covers a number of experiments which purport to highlight the differences between these two thought systems and how they arrive at different results even given the same inputs. Terms and concepts include coherence, attention, laziness, association, jumping to conclusions, WYSIATI (What you see is all there is), and how one forms judgments. The System 1 vs. System 2 debate dives into the reasoning or lack thereof for human decision making, with big implications for many areas including law and market research.[5]

I once showed a client the glass doors on a home by demonstrating how they would be hurricane proof, slapping on both sides to evidence their construction quality. This immediately got the customer's full attention and set apart the product and me from the competition. Average doesn't pay in sales. Wow them with your presentation, your dress, your belief in the product and the service you offer.

As a financial coach, my “perfect financial plan package” includes a 90 minute strategy session to determine what they really want their money to do for them, how they work, and where their behaviors have sabotaged those desires. Followed with a step by step action plan including a list of activities to shift the automatic behaviors that them away from the plan as well as any forms or scripts needed to address immediate sticky situations. This is coupled with 3 months of unlimited e-mail support and 3 follow up accountability sessions to tweak parts of the plan that might not be working and hold my clients accountable to making mature financial decisions that support the life they ultimately want to be living.
Sales teams are almost always urged to qualify leads before fully pursuing them. Qualifying leads accurately in this stage establishes an effective sales process. Reps use the BANT technique to determine if leads have the budget, need, authority and timeline to purchase. Only leads that meet the qualification criteria become potential opportunities and trickle down. Pushing leads without proper qualification into the sales funnel will clog your sales cycle, and won’t necessarily lead to revenue.
According to surveys done by Akamai and Gomez.com, nearly half of web users expect a site to load in 2 seconds or less, and they tend to abandon a site that isn’t loaded within 3 seconds. 79% of web shoppers who have trouble with web site performance say they won’t return to the site to buy again and around 44% of them would tell a friend if they had a poor experience shopping online.
Once the prospective customer is made aware of the product, it’s the duty of a marketer to nurture the lead by arousing his interest in buying the product and make him consider it over other products. This involves marketer to tap several other channels, improve its public relation strategies, and include affiliates and partners who promote the product.
QUOTE: “I don’t think we’d be able to do that from the beginning. That’s a good point though. Maybe we should clarify that somewhere…. But for the most part in the same way that we use speed for desktop I don’t see us doing that in the beginning. That’s something we would like to do in the long run but not in the beginning.” John Mueller, Google Dec 2017

Website performance varies with fluctuations in web traffic. Hosting servers handling the normal load at peak performance may lose page speed under excessive loads. Conducting stress tests, ramp tests, load tests and other performance tests on websites creates an accurate picture of how much web traffic the website can handle before losing performance or going down altogether. Compare the results with the website’s actual usage patterns to determine whether the website needs hardware upgrades to handle peak load as efficiently as possible.
Hello Sunil.. thank you for your feedback, it’s great to hear that you are finding this article useful. Re your question: yes, it makes sense to follow-up as often as you need to to reach the decision-maker. At the early stage of cold calling / emailing / SMS you may have to follow-up 6-12 times with a combination of cold calls and cold emails before you get to kick-started with your prospective customer. Obviously if they unsubscribe or say no then you have to respect this. At later stages, non-response would indicate that your prospective customer no longer sees (or has doubts) about the potential value of the solution you are selling. After following-up 2 times at a later stage, I would make it easy for your prospect to voice their concerns by communicating something like: “I’m struggling to reach you, perhaps we could hop on a call for 5 minutes as I’d like to understand your current thoughts rather than assume you are no longer interested in progressing.”
Customers will move on to Stage 5 when the sale is complete. Although we won’t detail it here, Norman should brainstorm the kinds of information these customers will need, as well as how he’ll provide it as part of a cohesive onboarding process. Though he doesn’t need to worry about customers finding him at this stage or moving on to the next one, it’s still important to meet their needs so that they walk away feeling good about their purchase decisions!

The purchase decision is the natural conclusion of the preceding three stages. You determine that you have a problem, investigate your options, decide which one is best for you, and then pull the trigger. However, businesses need to be aware that there are two things that can disrupt this stage: negative feedback from fellow customers and the prospect’s motivation to accept this feedback.
The bottle suit is a wetsuit for your bottle, also called a “beer bottle cooler” or “beverage holder.” Canned beverages require a neoprene can cooler or the convenient pocket coolie. Our can coolers and beverage holders are constructed with neoprene and nylon – compared to the old style foam can coolers. While service and product quality apparently has the biggest impact on business sales, converting website visitors into purchasing customers in the cyber world largely depends on developing a positive customer impression. And this is where ecommerce website performance parameters such as ultra-fast page speed and rapid check-out processes come into play, ultimately giving customers a positive psychological impression encouraging sales and customer loyalty.
Then you have a thank you page. This shows your appreciation for your customer, while also encouraging a deeper relationship with your business. For example, someone gave you their email on the Leadbox™ in exchange for a free eBook. You can now have a page that thanks them for signing up, gives them the eBook, and encourages them to purchase the associated workbook that enhances their eBook purchase. Watch Hubspot’s tutorial to create a thank you page that nurtures leads.
Ensure images aren’t any larger than they need to be, that they’re in the correct file format, and compressed for the web. 25% of pages could save more than 250KB by compressing images and text, and 10% could save more than 1MB. Regarding video, either leave it out or host the file on another platform (like YouTube or Vimeo) rather than your servers.
Maybe you’re more successful than I am, but I thought I’d defined a pain point, but I couldn’t sell a solution. Turned out that while it was a pain point, I had a hard time convincing them that it would make their lives easier. That’s what made me ask. YOU know that a certain website could be optimized better, but how do you plan to find someone with the problem and then convince them that the problem even exists in the first place? Someone else in here said it this way: they don’t know what they don’t know.

When you NURTURE prospects, you give them what they need to grow strong and healthy. Obviously not every prospect will grow into a “Lifetime Customer” regardless of what you do. That’s just the nature of lists, email marketing, and all the rest. Still, it’s so important to remember that a list of 100,000 weak and “under nurtured” prospects will never stand up against a list of just 100 “strong and healthy” prospects.
I specialize in helping you get to that first step. Sometimes we just need help working through our options. Sometimes, we just need to identify what our options are when the possibilities seem so overwhelming. You start by answering a few questions and then we have a free 30-minute to discovery session to see what’s unconsciously keeping you from moving. And if you need some help from there… you can choose from our convenient continuing support options. But it all starts with 30 minutes to make the headache go away. Are you ready?
The marketing funnel offers a good basic model, but marketers need to be aware of how technology has altered the buyer’s journey. Many buyers do their own research online, comparing features and benefits of competitive products, rather than relying on a company's traditional marketing activities to guide them through the funnel stages. This means buyers enter the funnel at a point where they are more prepared to make a sale. It also means companies need to get information online, such as an up-to-date website, product content and purchase reviews.
Now, online businesses can play with human psychology like the Houston airport executives and speed up evolution, but with virtually no specific formula to make website response times bearable for every individual visitor out there. Or they can actually reduce the objective length of wait in delivering the requested content to their online visitors with a fast responding website – whichever is possible when the website is designed to deliver instantaneous response and high quality, seamless user experience.

Your sales funnel is healthy if you have enough prospects going through it. If you’re moving enough prospects through the funnel with the experiences and interactions you create and if you are able to profitably convert enough prospects into paying customers, your sales funnel is healthy. See our article on Sales Metrics – 17 Reports That Improve Your Sales Pipeline Performance to help measure your sales funnel health.

Make the Sale. No one likes filling in forms. The more information you have about your customers, the more precisely you can retarget them for later sales, yes. But this info can always be collected at a later stage. The most important thing you can do once your buyer clicks to check out is to make your payment gateway form as quick, comfortable, and painless as possible. This means not asking for too much information, providing a multiplicity of options for common (Visa/Mastercard) as well as alternative payment preferences (such as Paypal and Bitcoin).

To do this, go back to your list of interactions, which are all assigned to the most relevant stage of the buying process. What you need now is a system capable of detecting these interactions and then assigning them to segmentation lists. This will allow you to target users on each list with campaigns relevant to their place along the buying journey.
The idea of the funnel is that your pool of potential customers grows smaller as it moves toward its first transaction with your business. At the top of the funnel, there are a great many people who will become aware of your brand (often seen as the first step in the conversion process). The middle of the funnel is smaller, as there are fewer people who'll actually consider paying you for your products or services, and the bottom of the funnel is even smaller, as many of the folks who consider paying you will end up deciding not to. Your mission as a marketer is to make that funnel as solid (and cylindrical) as possible, guiding potential customers toward eventual conversion.

However, there are even some who see the funnel as being split vertically, with both sales and marketing owning the full funnel. They argue that the sales people are increasingly becoming thought leaders to drive awareness by doing outbound outreach. In this scenario, both marketing and sales would work to nurture leads and prospects from awareness to purchase.

Mashable claims that adding videos to some of your top landing pages can result in an increase in conversions averaging at 86 percent! Our brains process visual information about 60,000 times faster than text, which means that any visitors to your site absorb information in videos better than they would by reading text. Learning about your product or service will be much more effective through video than text.
Marketers should tap every opportunity to develop a relationship with the buyer at this stage. This is often done through monitoring reviews of the products, testimonials from previous customers, inbound marketing, having a great graphic interface to draw attention, delivering more information to the customer, etc. This is a crucial stage of the marketing funnel as it is chiefly at this stage that the prospective buyer would want to remain in or leave the funnel.

In 1898, E. St. Elmo Lewis developed a model which mapped a theoretical customer journey from the moment a brand or product attracted consumer attention to the point of action or purchase.[1] St. Elmo Lewis’ idea is often referred to as the AIDA-model, an acronym which stands for Awareness, Interest, Desire, and Action. This staged process is summarized below:
Competition for online business success is just as intense if only a bit less violent. The fight for customer attention boils down to delivering the requested content most efficiently and accurately, irrespective of the company size and past laurels. And just like human blunders and ignorance dictating the outcome of the Trojan War, common mistakes killing website performance tend to determine the outcome of online business competition – fastest to the finish line wins the race!

Look at your current offerings. Can you give anything away for free? If you’re in the software business as we are, it’s easy to offer free, no-obligation trials of your software. Even if you’re not, you can just as easily give away samplers, trial memberships, two-for-one offers, and other reward-based incentives. Giving stuff away for free isn’t just a great way to improve people’s perception of your business, it’s also a great way to introduce them to your must-have products and tempt them to buy more.
When a salesperson qualifies a lead and deems it likely to eventually lead to an opportunity, this becomes a sales qualified lead (SQL). Again, it will be up to you to determine exactly what constitutes an SQL. Norman, for example, decides to send every MQL through to his salespeople for qualification because he runs a small company with a single tier of sales reps. A larger company with both junior and senior sales representatives may, on the other hand, choose to have junior representatives conduct initial calls to qualify prospects before assigning only those that fall into the “high interest and high fit” category to senior reps for online demonstrations.
Very limited customer base, compete with “free,” and would like to offer solutions to parties that don’t really want what I have to offer. In other words, they “have” to meet education/inservice requirements, but they would not buy anything from me that they “want.” Make sense? Easier to sell (IMHO) something that a person “wants” rather than something they “need.” Most of my potential customers do not “do” social media professionally. There is a constant battle for them to save money where possible. Pitiful results so far.
I just watched a video regarding tips to add to the Eweber page. There was too much information that I prefer to read it, too, in order to retain the material. I keep debating in my head as to whether I want to subscribe. My second book is coming out soon. I am afraid that I may get in over my head with adding this and adding that and so forth. Thank you!
Let’s be clear—leads won’t automatically move down the funnel. Sales reps have to continue to do their part of selling and allow the CRM to update the lead’s stage in the funnel by completing certain actions. You can setup workflow automations in the CRM to change lead stages. For example, after you’ve contacted a lead, the CRM will automatically update the lead’s stage based on the last activity.

But say you’re evaluating marketing automation programs to help improve the sales funnel you’re creating. Because these programs can require investments of $1,500 a month, you’re likely to undergo a much more careful and thorough evaluation process. You might request free trials of the different systems you’re considering, have online demonstrations with each company’s representatives or view training videos to get a feel for how each system will perform.

Keeping the initial page speed high keeps visitors engaged even when the entire website content including bulky graphics take ages to render completely. Monitoring high initial page speed by tracking parameters such as Time to First Byte (TTFB) or performing ping requests from website servers accurately describe initial page load times and page speed statistics. If these take too long, work needs to be done at the back-end in the form of server-side and website core optimization.

Similarly, elevators contain mirrors so the passengers keep busy in styling themselves and not thinking about the time spent traveling. This passenger behavior is analogous to that of website visitors in the cyber world. And the same general principle applies for online businesses as well: It is the objective length of wait that defines the experience of waiting.
If your new customers are greeted by a thoughtful onboarding process, personal attention, and all the resources they need to use your product successfully, they’re more likely to confirm to themselves that they made the right choice. And when they’re confident, they’re more likely to pass on their satisfaction to others in the form of recommendations and product endorsements. If, on the other hand, your new customers experience disappointment after their purchase, they’re more likely to request refunds, write negative reviews, and recommend that others in their social circles purchase from your competitors.

Steps in Sales Funnel – This lays out for you, point-by-point, each page and step the customer goes through on their way to making a purchase. In some cases, it also works to point out some of the follow-up steps and “if-then” scenarios. For instance, how does the funnel respond “intelligently” to get prospects who didn’t buy to come back to the website?
Websites with non-functional multimedia content take excessive client-server communication cycles to reach requesting browsers, ultimately deteriorating website performance. It is, however, up to website owners to ensure streamlined serviceability across all browser platforms, device form factors and geographic locations as government policies and browser compatibility potentially changes over time, and most often, unpredictability as well.

The metaphor of the funnel is used because people drop away at each stage of a long sales process: for example, many of your unqualified prospects may have existing suppliers with whom they're very satisfied. Others may have needs which other competitors are better-placed to satisfy. Still, others may love your products, but not have the budget to buy them.
If you’ve ever looked at the targeting options available to Facebook advertisers, you may have seen the amazing granularity with which you can target users on Facebook – advertisers can target users based on the square footage of their home, the university from which they earned their degree, and even where they plan on going for their next vacation (as Margot revealed in her fascinating post about amazingly granular Facebook audiences).

A good practice when managing your sales funnel in a CRM is to be consistent in updating the lead stage. As leads progress down the funnel, you must be able to analyze the number of leads by stage in order to ensure your funnel is always full to the brim with leads. It’s also important to know what stage each lead is at to know what to do next. So once the lead has been contacted, move the lead from new to contacted stage. Actually, the CRM can move it down the funnel automatically.
However, getting to this stage is no simple feat. It takes an enormous amount of work and effort plus tracking. By implementing sales funnel software, such as the platform built by Brunson, you can definitely cut down the headache, but there's still lots of work to be done. Copy needs to be written, tracking pixels need to be installed and email sequences need to be created. But that's what it takes to succeed.
Martial arts–regardless of what they say–usually don’t actually teach you how to fight/defend yourself very well. Most are focused on sport fighting or tradition–which is fine but then they all claim “effective self defense”. I have a lot of martial artist and a boxer friend who all spent several hundred dollars and months on training and still froze during real muggings (the reason is because of forming state cues that can’t be done during real combat and ignoring what adrenaline does to your body).
Problem: NP’s notoriously fall prey to paying what are often exorbitant fees for online auction services, often from 15% – 50% of their auction proceeds (problem #1, the charitable cause ends up with less than 100% of their auction revenues) . Worse, these fees are really paid by their auction winners (the source of the auction proceeds), but the money is siphoned off the winners’ bids without their knowledge or consent. If bidders new this, they would likely be upset at best, or feel alienated, at worst (problem #2).

He is the co-founder of Neil Patel Digital. SOLUTION: I can help coaches and entrepreneurs use social media effectively that grows their business and generates new leads. They don’t need to worry about technical aspects, or that they will waste time and money figuring out what works and what doesn’t, or that it will take them hours and hours to learn everything there is about social media and digital marketing. Either they can follow a proven system that works and do it themselves under my guidance and hands-on training (marketing mentoring option), or I can take care of everything completely for them (marketing services option).

Remove obstacles from your buyer’s path to a purchase. Anything you can do to remove steps from your buyer’s journey to making a buy can help. If you require customers to create an account when they make a purchase with you, are you sending them away because they “already have an account with Amazon” so it’s quicker? Removing this requirement, or offering one-click signup to users through their social media accounts can both increase the percentage of customers that make a purchase with your site.

Men often have a hard time finding jewelry that’s masculine, not to mention rugged enough to stand up to the elements and resist wear and tear. My nautical shackle bracelets are made from actual sailing hardware. I use triple braided polyester rope that is finished off with whipped ends from waxed sail thread. A stainless steel bow shackle completes the look. These won’t rust, and they can be worn at the beach, while sailing, playing sports and more, without needing to take them off first.
My solution: I’ll be her turnkey solution. She tells me what she needs, and I let her focus her time and energy on developing that course she wants to sell. I’ll take care of the installation and presentation of all of the widgets she needs to add to her site to make selling her thing possible. She gladly pays me because while she could probably figure it out, she’ll make more money sooner if she pays me to do it.
Designers, illustrators and fine artists galore have issues with tangents and other compositional blunders in their work. A tangent is a broad term for a large group of unintentional mistakes based in visual composition, like tension points, closed corners, halved shapes, and more. I am writing an ebook on tangents, what they are, how to avoid or utilize them, and will also be starting to educate people on my blog shortly.
Imagine any online shopping portal, for instance. Several hundreds of people like you visit the website every day, rather every hour. You view products and choose among innumerable options. This is followed by adding items of your choice to their virtual shopping carts. Not all visitors to the site buy the products from here. Some might make inquiries; some might browse through a different site and land up buying the product somewhere else. The platform which was open to act as a magnet for millions now gradually funnels its way through different steps into achieving profits from few by selling its items away.
It’s been four years since I joined Unbounce’s mobile responsive beta at the Call to Action Conference, and later tomorrow I’ll be taking to the stage at CTAConf 2018 to share that we’ve entered closed beta for AMP in Unbounce. You’ll soon be able to create AMP landing pages in the same simple, pixel-perfect, drag and drop builder that you know and love. We hope you’re as excited as we are.
