If you try to opt-in with the same information to get another video, they ask you to sign up again. I believe that is their process. Like I said, that creates some friction. Yes, you can enter a fake email, but, if you believe in the quality of the content (and it is really good content; Andrew is one of the best interviewers on the Internet), you won’t.
Oftentimes, one of the most powerful factors in a consumer’s decision not to buy something is risk aversion – the desire to avoid a potential loss. Most times, this perceived risk is a financial one. Why should someone buy your products? What if they don’t work, or the customer doesn’t like them? Even small purchases can carry the risk of “buyer’s remorse,” so overcome this objection from the outset by offering a bulletproof money-back guarantee.
Facebook is particularly good at capturing these leads, thanks to its targeting options. You can narrow down on users based on their demographic info, interests, online behaviour and previous purchases. AdWords also has a role to play here, letting you target lower-intent searches like “how often should I audit my website?” and getting these users involved with your brand.
I just watched a video regarding tips to add to the Eweber page. There was too much information that I prefer to read it, too, in order to retain the material. I keep debating in my head as to whether I want to subscribe. My second book is coming out soon. I am afraid that I may get in over my head with adding this and adding that and so forth. Thank you!

How I Can Fix It: I provide information and tools (I just finished my first eBook and am working on more ideas as I build my list) to show women over 50 it’s not only possible but very doable to stay fit and lean. I’m 55 so I speak from experience (I lost 15 pounds after hitting 50) and, as a former personal trainer and now a seasoned health and fitness writer, I have the background and chops to provide actionable tips and advice through my blog, a weekly newsletter and… (informational products still TBD…). My eBook is currently at the designer’s and will be my first actual sales item. I plan to create more free downloadable templates as non-salesy sales tactics to turn readers into buyers.
When you go to a restaurant, the chances are pretty good that you’ll invariably choose one of the mid-priced dishes. This is because many restaurants manipulate psychology to push people toward the mid-range meals. We’ll often avoid the cheapest dishes – and the most expensive – making the middle-tier options the most appealing. This is a technique known as “decoy pricing.” The same principle can be leveraged to increase sales online with tiered pricing structures.
Mailing List: It is essential to ask buyers to sign up to your mailing list when they do make a purchase. And it is crucial to make sure you offer them a good incentive for doing so. Give a free gift or a discount to everyone who signs up during checkout. Ensure you tell them the value they will gain from doing so. If you are going to send them regular content covering various topics, make this clear, and explain how they could benefit from the type of content you will send them. At DirectIQ we provide a variety of ready-made templates for sending weekly newsletters and marketing emails to your customers to ensure they are consistently engaged by your brand.
Prospecting and marketing are all the things you do to get people into the first of your sales funnel stages. Note that stages are broken into two or more steps wherever possible. A demo could be called a single stage, but in real life it involves a lot of things: contacting the customer, sending reminders, doing the demo, and then following up. Whatever your own sales stages look like, the support you need in managing them will be the same.
How often does a sales person at a store try to upsell you a product? If they’re doing what their superior asked them to do, then your answer would be 100 percent of the time. If people can upsell inside of a business, is there as reason you can’t upsell online as well? Shopify suggests that upselling is actually 20 times more effective than cross-selling online, even though we see the latter more often.
Most prospects will enter this stage after identifying Norman’s company as a possible alternative and completing the information search process described in Stage 2. However, some customers might be introduced to his brand after completing Stage 2 with his competitors, as in the case of an industry blog running a comparison chart of the different competitors in his space.

When you NURTURE prospects, you give them what they need to grow strong and healthy. Obviously not every prospect will grow into a “Lifetime Customer” regardless of what you do. That’s just the nature of lists, email marketing, and all the rest. Still, it’s so important to remember that a list of 100,000 weak and “under nurtured” prospects will never stand up against a list of just 100 “strong and healthy” prospects.

Google researchers suggest page load times of less than 100 milliseconds give visitors the illusion of instantaneous website response as the visual Sensory memory processor in our brain works in bursts of 100 milliseconds. The memory store clears itself after 0.1 seconds as photoreceptor cells in the eyes transmit more information to the Occipital lobe.
I used to give lower rates to non-profits and churches and it ended up hurting my bottom line because I also worked with bigger companies doing the same sort of work. I ended up realizing I was delivering the same value to both. The question you need to ask yourself, unless you’re only targeting churches and non-profits is, would you do the same work for a non-profit as you would for a larger company that would pay you more?
What Google is proposing is not to turn the entire web into AMP, but rather to take some of the ideas behind the clever hacks that made AMP work, clean them up, and then make them a universal standard that has nothing to do with Google. That way, nearly any webpage could be distributed as easily and loaded as quickly as ones that are supported by AMP.
Webmasters can reduce these response times by delivering cached copies of the requested content instead of rendering it repeatedly in response to every single user request that pings their server. Web cache is the mechanism of temporarily storing copies of web content to satisfy subsequent user requests from the cache database when specific conditions are met. This process reduces the number of client-server round trips taken in delivering (static) website content to requesting browsers.

Sales funnel conversions – If you’re going to choose only a few metrics to focus on, make sure this is one of them. Essentially, this metric involves tracking the number of prospects that enter your funnel at any point and then convert into customers. As you make changes to your marketing strategy in the future, seeing this number improve will let you know you’re on the right track.
In this section Kahneman returns to economics and expands his seminal work on Prospect Theory. He discusses the tendency for problems to be addressed in isolation and how, when other reference points are considered, the choice of that reference point (called a frame) has a disproportionate impact on the outcome. This section also offers advice on how some of the shortcomings of System 1 thinking can be avoided.
Self-help is a giant niche and getting bigger. Would it be easier if you described exactly who you helped best? Then your ideal audience would see themselves more quickly, like: We help single women ages 30 to 40, who work 50+ hour weeks, try to get to the gym, volunteer their time and have a social life. And don’t have time/budget to get to a therapist.
Using Facebook Live as a promotional tool is another proven way to get in front of your audience candidly and add a more humanized approach to your marketing strategy. Many companies are using Facebook Live as a way to promote new products or launches, share stories with their audience, and hold Q&A sessions to create more transparency and close the communication gap between themselves and their users.
The Discovery stage is where your prospect’s interest is piqued. They are curious about your company and products and want to learn more. In this stage, you are sharing valuable educational content related to your prospect’s problem or need. This stage occurs while you are qualifying your prospect, conducting initial meetings, and defining their needs.
In each funnel stage, marketing personnel must conduct activities that facilitate consumers through the funnel process. They need to engage promotional activities to create awareness about the products, detail the benefits compared with the competition, outline the advantages of how a purchase will benefit the customer, or offer a special promotion that entices the sale. Once the sale is complete, marketing needs to engage the customer to get feedback and retain loyalty, as that can lead to repeat business and referrals.

Problem: Artists think that they have to cut off an ear and starve in order to be “real artists.” They equate suffering with talent. They stubbornly cling to their failure and make excuses such as “selling art is selling out.” But at the bottom of it is fear, fear that they aren’t good enough, and fear because they don’t understand how the art business works.
One example is that people are loss-averse: they are more likely to act to avert a loss than to achieve a gain. Another example is that the value people place on a change in probability (e.g., of winning something) depends on the reference point: people appear to place greater value on a change from 0% to 10% (going from impossibility to possibility) than from, say, 45% to 55%, and they place the greatest value of all on a change from 90% to 100% (going from possibility to certainty). This occurs despite the fact that under traditional utility theory all three changes give the same increase in utility. Consistent with loss-aversion, the order of the first and third of those is reversed when the event is presented as losing rather than winning something: there, the greatest value is placed on eliminating the probability of a loss to 0.
This might seem painfully obvious, but it’s amazing to me how many sites write checks their products can’t cash. Not only is honesty in your copy crucial to your business’ reputation, it also fosters and encourages trust in your brand. Don’t make claims you can’t substantiate, and don’t use hyperbole lightly – today’s consumers are hypersensitive to marketing BS, so be honest, straightforward, and approachable in all your sales copy, from your homepage to your email campaigns.
The action stage of the marketing funnel is where you reassure your audience that they are making the right decision. You have done most of the work and you’ve earned your role as a trusted advisor. You can now make a recommendation and be heard without them questioning your intentions. The value proposition and the action that you are requesting will vary depending on what you are trying to accomplish.
Big problem: Manufacturing and retail businesses that need more international orders to add cash to their bottom line but who don’t have the budget/willingness to recruit and train their own international sales teams. These businesses are worried about failing in export and losing their investment or have failed in the past and need a sure-fire international team to ensure their success.
However, getting to this stage is no simple feat. It takes an enormous amount of work and effort plus tracking. By implementing sales funnel software, such as the platform built by Brunson, you can definitely cut down the headache, but there's still lots of work to be done. Copy needs to be written, tracking pixels need to be installed and email sequences need to be created. But that's what it takes to succeed.

Website performance is user experience – the power of page speed, translating into attractive online shopping experience inspires sales figures and eventually determines online business success. The industry kingpin Google began factoring page speed into its proprietary search algorithms ever since it experienced the compelling repercussions of website performance lapses impacting sales. The search engine giant once experienced a 20 percent slump in traffic resulting from half a second delay in page load times.
Measure your most effective TOFU content with first-touch attribution. One of the key takeaways of Rand Fishkin’s video on marketing funnels is that you should set up first touch attribution at a bare minimum.  First touch gives you a clear picture of the top of the funnel by assigning the sale’s credit to the first interaction a lead had with your company. You know what’s bringing in visitors, so you can optimize for demand generation.
Principle of commitment & consistency -- When people commit to something, they're far more likely to purchase from you. That's why getting them to agree to something like a free + shipping offer or by agreeing with something you've said in some way. This is a powerful principle in sales and if you pay attention to some of the best marketers in the world, you'll notice that they work fervently to get your commitment to something, even if it's very small in the beginning.
Note: Each of these tools offers its own unique features, reporting, and ways to dissect your results, which means you may receive different page load time results. The geographical distance between test location and the server where your website is hosted also plays a role. In addition, running a tool for the first time may be slower, so it’s best to run tests multiple times and take an average of the results.
Entry sources – Monitoring the sources from which people are entering your funnel can be useful data to track, as it gives you ideas for expanding the reach of your marketing campaigns. If, for example, you see that a large number of your prospects are coming from a single guest blog post you did, seeking out similar guest author positions can be an easy way to increase your overall sales.
Google also has a great page with plenty of tools for the web developer serious about improving website load times. I will no doubt introduce some new things over time that will increase my download times again, but I will be sure to keep an eye on things. I’m sure there are a few other things we could do to increase the download speed of our pages, but that will do for now.

About 30% of those responding said they formed a “negative perception” of a company with a badly put-together site or would tell their family and friends about their experiences. Further research by Akamai found that almost half of the online stores in the list of the top 500 US shopping sites take longer than the four-second threshold to finish loading. The survey questioned 1,058 net shoppers during the first six months of 2006. Consultants Jupiter Research did the survey for Akamai.

You’ll probably still see many companies doing things the old way, but that leads to a huge pile of missed opportunities. Many businesses fail in their marketing efforts by not following good practices like retargeting, automated email marketing, reminding your visitors about abandoned carts‎, leveraging lead gathering forms, A/B testing, using landing pages, or simply diving deeper into social media advertising.
I feel your enthusiasm and passion, but I’m confused. As someone suffering from lack of Online Traffic, it’s not clear to me that you actually get my problem. I’m so confused, I need you to help me figure out my problem – to be specific, so I can say, “Aha! That’s what it’s all about!” Then, I need you to explain to me how exactly you are going to solve my problem in succinct easy to follow terms. For someone like me, general terms are overwhelming.
Suggestions are generated in anticipation of page speed improvements that should occur by implementing appropriate performance optimization rules. For example, if a large image file is served uncompressed, monitoring tools would recommend implementation of various measures to compress the bulky file. Such issues otherwise go unnoticed due to human errors or plain ignorance, neither of which can be completely eliminated. At the same time, page speed monitoring tools would at least empower website owners to identify the issues and take appropriate steps in eradicating hidden website performance bottlenecks.
Thanks for the article Derek. I keep receiving the emails in my inbox and keep telling myself to go back and read them when I get the time, and I’m glad I finally just made the time to go back. I like your advice about approaching the problem first, otherwise you might be targeting the wrong people and missing out on those who really do want your help.

As your sales reps qualify leads and identify opportunities, they’ll create an opportunity, aka deal in the CRM. Sales managers want to know the value of each deal and total deals by stage to prioritize the team’s efforts on high-value deals. In addition to this data being available in the CRM’s visual sales pipeline, you can also create detailed reports to further analyze deals, and add them to a dashboard to actively monitor their progress.
This principle also applies to how you position yourself as a business. Ever come across a site that’s obviously run by one or two people, but features copy that would be better suited to a multinational enterprise company? This approach not only makes you look foolish, it also damages your brand’s credibility. If you’re a small company, take pride in that and be upfront about it – many consumers are turning to smaller businesses precisely because of the more individualized, personal service they can offer. Don’t try to be something you’re not.

In 2001, Apple introduced the all new iPod in a one-minute TV spot. The product’s features were miles ahead of the competition (keep in mind that this was a time when CD players and inferior MP3 players were leading the market). People had heard rumors about the iPod and were well aware of the Apple brand, but in order to spark interest, Apple needed to respect the level of awareness that their audience had towards the product. Apple’s only statement was: “iPod, a thousand songs in your pocket.” Apple didn’t mention the price because that would assume its viewers were ready to consider making a purchase. Apple didn’t focus on features like battery life, versatility or the technology that was used to develop it. Too much emphasis on the added features and benefits would require the audience to invest in learning about a product that was completely new to them.
Remove obstacles from your buyer’s path to a purchase. Anything you can do to remove steps from your buyer’s journey to making a buy can help. If you require customers to create an account when they make a purchase with you, are you sending them away because they “already have an account with Amazon” so it’s quicker? Removing this requirement, or offering one-click signup to users through their social media accounts can both increase the percentage of customers that make a purchase with your site.
Big Solution: Our “Relationships That Work” program fixes the root of the Corporate Flu issue…poor relationships between co-workers, between departments, as well as the age-old struggle between management and staff. This is accomplished through a combination of online courses, webinars, and in-person workshops that help create an ideal corporate culture.
Solution: My online program, The Working Artist, will give them the nuts and bolts of how to build an art career and teach the secrets of selling art. I’ve spent my career in the art business and understand exactly how it works. I’ve taught artists around the world how to move from starving to thriving. It’s not easy but I truly believe that any artist can succeed, if they are willing to do the work. And that’s why I call my program The Working Artist.

Just like an actual funnel, Marketing funnels represent a buyer’s journey from awareness to the actual purchase of the product. The concept marketing funnel revolves around is that marketers spread a vast lattice to catch hold of as many leads as possible and then gradually foster prospective customers through suitable schemes, even though the numbers lessen with every passing stage.
AMP has caused quite the stir from a philosophical perspective, but the technology hasn’t received as close of a look. A few weeks ago, Ferdy Christant wrote about the unfair advantage being given to AMP content through preloading. This got me wondering: how well does AMP really perform. I’ve seen folks, like Ferdy, analyze one or two pages, but I hadn’t seen anything looking at the broader picture…yet.

Whether your industry is highly competitive or not, there is always another option to buy something from somebody else. What can your products do that others in the same price bracket cannot? What support does your company offer its customers? Do you provide free delivery where your competitors don’t? Is your price lower than your competitors? These could all be factors influencing your customer’s choice to stick with you or go for a similar product from another brand.
Our founder spent the better part of the last decade with Peisner Johnson & Company, LLP a CPA firm that focuses exclusively on state taxes. Awareness: Awareness is the uppermost stage of the marketing funnel. Potential customers are drawn into this stage through marketing campaigns and consumer research and discovery. Trust and thought leadership is established with events, advertising, trade shows, content (blog posts, infographics, etc.), webinars, direct mail, viral campaigns, social media, search, media mentions, and more. Here, lead generation takes place, as information is collected and leads are pulled into a lead management system for nurturing further down the funnel.
Any claim that AMP ensures a certain level of performance depends both on how forgiving you are of the extremes, and on what your definition of “performant” is. If you were to try and build your entire site using AMP, you should be aware that while it’s not likely to end up too bloated, it’s also not going to end up blowing anyone’s mind for its speed straight of the box. It’s still going to require some work.
