Getting it right with thoroughly designed websites dedicated to mobile platforms enables customers to make quick and educated purchase decisions that ultimately create never-ending revenue streams for online businesses.
Speed is critical. Everyone likes things fast. Why the wait? Speed optimizing any website will give it an extra edge over its competition. I always implement speed optimization to all my clients regardless if they pay for it or not.Speed optimizing a website should be essential but not all web developers are implemtenting such practice. Would this also effect ranking? I do think that google may consider this as part of their ranking algorithm.

The intention here is to be better about communicating our intent. We’ve always wanted to [make the technology behind AMP a web standard] and always said this, but not very clearly. … We just want to communicate very clearly that AMP is not anything other than trying to make the web better. The lessons learned from AMP are being put into the standard bodies so we can have other frameworks implement the same stuff too.
Also, Google has recently gone on record saying that page speed will be a ranking factor in its upcoming mobile-first index. Details on how they will evaluate page speed for mobile and calculate rankings are still unknown. But, what we do know doesn’t change much from what we at Yoast have been saying for some time: make sure your site is responsive, as fast as possible, solidly structured, and full of excellent content.
QUOTE: “I don’t think we’d be able to do that from the beginning. That’s a good point though. Maybe we should clarify that somewhere…. But for the most part in the same way that we use speed for desktop I don’t see us doing that in the beginning. That’s something we would like to do in the long run but not in the beginning.” John Mueller, Google Dec 2017

Surprisingly, it’s April and I just got off the phone with a Bluehost tech who, firstly, had never heard of http/2 and after doing some research, determined that currently, none of Bluehost’s packages support http/2. I told him I was very surprised since Google is going to be including page speed in its rankings soon and since I am paying for SSL already to avoid being penalized. He did some further research and said it looked like Bluehost will be adding http/2 support but there are other projects ahead of it. He also suggested a look into Cloudflare, which others have suggested in the comments here. So that’s what I’ll be doing.

To explain overconfidence, Kahneman introduces the concept he labels What You See Is All There Is (WYSIATI). This theory states that when the mind makes decisions, it deals primarily with Known Knowns, phenomena it has already observed. It rarely considers Known Unknowns, phenomena that it knows to be relevant but about which it has no information. Finally it appears oblivious to the possibility of Unknown Unknowns, unknown phenomena of unknown relevance.
In 1898, E. St. Elmo Lewis developed a model which mapped a theoretical customer journey from the moment a brand or product attracted consumer attention to the point of action or purchase.[1] St. Elmo Lewis’ idea is often referred to as the AIDA-model, an acronym which stands for Awareness, Interest, Desire, and Action. This staged process is summarized below:
So either you buy a Landing Page builder (which does not have copywriting packages integrated – no other tool does) or if sometime back if you had bought a Landing Page builder, you go to the control panel of your computer, find it, open it, and start watching the tutorials on how to use this apparently Easy to use (but outdated and in reality really complicated) tool.
Minifying CSS and using a CDN don’t have to be complicated. While I’d recommend a gulp or grunt task runner (which can be complicated) you can find a CSS minification tool online where you copy/paste your CSS into a form and it will give you the minfied CSS. Save that to a new file (mysite.min.css) and include it on your homepage instead. Regarding a CDN, if you’re using something like jQuery or Bootstrap on your site, you can reference them from a cdn (like cdnjs or googleapis) rather than referencing the file from your site. Good luck.
Of course, regardless of how they enter into your funnel, your goal as a marketer is to move them through the multiple stages that will take them from prospect to buyer. And once they're aware of you, you need to build their interest. To do this, you need to establish a relationship with the customer. You might have enticed them with a great offer (lead magnet) to grab their email address, but actually moving them through the funnel is a far greater challenge.
Great article Matt! I have a product-based business (skincare to be precise) and I’ve been doing a lot of research on sales funnels over the past few days but only ever come across examples for service-based businesses and struggle to apply those to my business. I do offer a free skincare guide at opt in but can’t think of anything else for the follow up emails to create trust as well as a limited time offer. Would you have any suggestions?
Additional findings indicate that quick page loading is a key factor in a consumer’s loyalty to an eCommerce site, especially for high spenders. 79 percent of online shoppers who experience a dissatisfying visit are less likely to buy from the same site again while 27 percent are less likely to buy from the same site’s physical store, suggesting that the impact of a bad online experience will reach beyond the web and can result in lost store sales.” Akamai 2009
This may seem very simple, but most salespeople never ask for the sale. This is hard to believe, but it’s true. We recently did a mystery shop on over 500 businesses and at more than 70 percent of them, the salespeople never asked us to do business. Regardless of your product, price or how professional you are, if you don't ask, you will only sell to those who are going to buy regardless.
A marketing funnel is a model describing the customer journey from awareness of the product to the actual conversion. It has long been a topic of contest and conjecture. We call them funnels because the probability of sales and proceeds gradually decreases at each step. Some people opt out, some lose interest, and some choose another portal. Had this not been the case, terming it as a marketing cylinder would have been better! In an ideal situation, all leads would turn into customers – ten on ten returns. The job of the marketers, hence, is to make sure that most of the leads are turned into customers so that their marketing funnels could distort its ways and turn into a marketing cylinder.
In my case the problem I focus on wellness. More specifically, I work with people who want to feel good and to do it without excessive dependence on medication. I used to be that overly medicated person before I learned new habits that helped me wean off my medication, so I feel a lot of empathy for others suffering from similar conditions and I offer solutions. Right now I offer personal coaching and I teach cooking classes in person or online. I am currently building an online curriculum that includes Skype consultations and a community forum. The online classes make it available to more people who would like to learn the information at their own pace and from anywhere. The personal coaching I received was paramount to my success and it empowered me to keep going and to learn more and to feel more in charge of my personal health. That’s what I offer others through coaching and classes. I’m slowly building a following on my website and different social media platforms. I really want to build a community that feels supported and that supports each other. I appreciate this article and have taken notes going forward.
But let’s say that you want at least 100 people to purchase from your sales funnel. You can work backwards to see how many people you need at each point along the funnel. If you want 100 sales, you would need 250 people to end up on your landing page (100 divided by 0.40). In order to get 250 people on your landing, your social media ad needs to target 1,250 consumers (250 divided by 0.20).
My solution is we create an online video, get it to page one of Google in their specific niche, helping them with traffic by getting them on page one, as well as placing them on our site and exposing them to our traffic and finally, putting a call to action at the end of the video that offers them gift in exchange for their information (builds list)
Tempting website design themes and multimedia content are head turners for online traffic. That is if the content even reaches the eyes of impatient visitors fast enough. High-quality images and videos (large pixels, large file size) take longer in downloading onto requesting browsers, whereas low quality, lightweight graphics barely capture user attention despite their lower load times.

The marketing funnel concept can impact your business to generate sales in a controlled system. The funnel attracts prospects by consumer psychology, on-line incentives, social networking or other marketing mix. Prospects are drawn through the funnel under various stages of relationship development and brand awareness. The marketing concept turns prospects to a target audience to generate a sale.
Indeed, speed optimization isn’t (just) about shrinking page size. Reducing the number of client-server requests in delivering website content to Web browsers is an integral part of website speed optimization. Webmasters can achieve this by not making too many folks with CSS, HTML and JavaScript requests. Although the number of requests isn’t as important as they used to be thanks to improvements with HTTP/2. That is to say, optimize, minify and squish all unnecessary and compressible code lines.
I don’t believe #8 is true. What defines what is above or below the fold. Website designers nowadays cannot control where the fold falls on visitor’s screen.s People have different size monitors, different resolution, different browsers. On top of that and not everyone keeps their browsers maximized. Add to that mobile devices. Content will shift based on the above and there’s never a definite answer of what’s above the fold.
Your sales funnel is healthy if you have enough prospects going through it. If you’re moving enough prospects through the funnel with the experiences and interactions you create and if you are able to profitably convert enough prospects into paying customers, your sales funnel is healthy. Desire: Customers have moved from attention or recognition of the problem through information-gathering and interest. Now they have a desire for a solution. Customers evaluate alternatives and your job, through content creation, is to spark a desire for your solution. You must convince customers, as they examine various solutions to their problem, that your solution is the right one for them.

The second section offers explanations for why humans struggle to think statistically. It begins by documenting a variety of situations in which we either arrive at binary decisions or fail to precisely associate reasonable probabilities with outcomes. Kahneman explains this phenomenon using the theory of heuristics. Kahneman and Tversky originally covered this topic in their landmark 1974 article titled Judgment under Uncertainty: Heuristics and Biases.[6]

You only reach the advocacy stage of your marketing funnel once your customers become fans. As opposed to merely being a business from which they can buy products, you want to be a brand that they talk about and share with their friends. How? By offering them the same kind of high-quality content you provided them with initially but tailored to their customer-type.
Here’s the good news. Since we looked at mobile page speeds last year, the average time it takes to fully load a mobile landing page has dropped by seven seconds.1 The bad news is that it still takes about 15 seconds, according to our new analysis. That’s far too slow when you consider that 53% of mobile site visits leave a page that takes longer than three seconds to load.2
Here’s an example. To create your prospect experience in the Awareness stage, think about and articulate what you will do or say to your prospects when you first meet them. Then think about how your interaction will make them feel. Consider your prospects and their needs as you’re doing this. Then, document your actions and your prospect’s experience for this stage. Repeat this throughout the entire sales funnel.
When a lead enters the CRM, it’s marked “new”. Every lead in this stage is in the top of the funnel. As sales reps interact with leads, they’re subsequently moved to the next stages. Filters and views in the CRM reveals the number of leads at every stage in the sales funnel to help you analyze their progress—how many new leads are in the funnel, how many have engaged with sales reps, how many are in the bottom of the funnel and ready to close, and how many need to be nurtured. This knowledge about your sales funnel becomes an actionable tool allowing you to plan your sales strategies.
Deep learning—or artificial intelligence—are rapidly becoming a crucial force in marketing. After all, most websites sell a vast number of products; being able to recommend just the right item to a customer is a skill. In some ways, this is the most crucial piece lost when retail transactions move from the brick and mortar store to the web storefront.

For the new template, we mocked up a simple wireframe, based on the existing blog layout and started to flesh out the site; what divs were needed and what the appropriate class names and ids would be. From there we starting designing the website in the browser to help iterate and see how things shaped up. A major plus point of designing in the browser is that you can see how the site displays across multiple different browsers; Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and Opera.
