However, getting to this stage is no simple feat. It takes an enormous amount of work and effort plus tracking. By implementing sales funnel software, such as the platform built by Brunson, you can definitely cut down the headache, but there's still lots of work to be done. Copy needs to be written, tracking pixels need to be installed and email sequences need to be created. But that's what it takes to succeed.
Overall, when DOM ready times throughout a visit were slower, people bounced more. Our research found that bounced sessions had DOM ready times that were 55% slower than nonbounced sessions. We also noticed that bounce rates were even higher if the first page in the visit had a significantly slower DOM ready time than the remaining pages. This tells us that first impressions matter: If people's initial experience visiting a site is slow, they're more likely to bounce later. That initial interaction seems to color people's perception of the site and decrease their willingness to be patient throughout the transaction process.
Additional features and functionality always pleases website owners and developers. Widgets and plugins enable convenient changes to existing websites along with a slight burden on website performance. Even with the smallest of widgets such as the Google+ button box, the burden to website performance in terms of page load time can increase by as much as 2 seconds in some instances.
Principle of commitment & consistency -- When people commit to something, they're far more likely to purchase from you. That's why getting them to agree to something like a free + shipping offer or by agreeing with something you've said in some way. This is a powerful principle in sales and if you pay attention to some of the best marketers in the world, you'll notice that they work fervently to get your commitment to something, even if it's very small in the beginning.

Fantastic post, I loved it and took a lot of it into consideration for ideas to incorporate. I’m a Front end web developer, I’m seeking to market myself as a designer and offer package deals for customers, I have yet to release my deals, in the past I’ve tried to develop websites for clients for free for cross promotion marketing and trade, unfortunately I always ended up putting together worthy projects and they under-delivered. I was so frustrated I couldn’t understand why they didn’t care about my success and I was doing my best in making their website and conversion rate successful. I then decided to offer these deals so that my clients can easily decide what package best fits their situation, do you have any tips to help maximize the the amount of packages I can potentially sale, or to better close the larger package deals?
A Mr. E. St. Elmo created the first “purchase model” way back in 1898 in an effort to systematize the sales process and, ultimately, improve results. He developed a model that mapped a theoretical customer journey from the moment a product attracted a consumer’s attention to the point of action or purchase. His model has guided marketers and sales teams for nearly a century.

In the consideration phase, a consumer starts to associate you with the solution you offer. This is the time when you want to supply them with content that helps them evaluate you and your products. At this stage, we're speaking directly to the people we think our business can help and making sure they know how we can help them. Remember that they may not yet trust you, so don't put on your sales hat just yet. Instead, consideration content is a great opportunity to make sure it's easy for your visitor to browse all the information that might help them differentiate you from your competitors.

A marketing funnel can be used to narrow down a wide net of prospects into a target audience. Offering articles, e-courses, audio downloads or other free incentives may help to entice your audience to allow you to add them to your database. As you build your target audience, you gain opportunities to demonstrate your expertise and guide them through the funnel for a sale.

It also helps to use the CSS sprite technique where smaller graphics (logo, icons, buttons, etc) are combined into one big file, and then positioned as required via CSS positioning. This reduces HTTP requests, which in turn improves page speed. To make this easier, there are online tools that allow you to upload a file containing combined graphics, and then they output the necessary CSS. SpriteCow is one such tool.

Page speed, in particular, fills the void in enhancing marketability by improving website user experience to keep impatient online customers engaged and satisfied. A recent research report published by O’Reilly concludes improvements in website end-user experience by reducing page load time boost sales and conversion rates significantly. The staggering statistics are as follows:
From the perspective of end users, excessive services are often unnecessary or at most, considered secondary to the actual content portrayed by the website. Many websites host more than 80 assets (images, plugins, add-ons and other multimedia content), and all of this content is not necessarily delivered to requesting browsers as per user preferences. Additional investments in developing media-rich websites ultimately backfire when the information actually requested to reach end-users is held by irrelevant sign-up forms, analytics code and other content adding unnecessary weight to the website.

Take the time to go through your site and make a list of any hesitations you believe visitors may have based on the information already available. Critically evaluate your site in this step—don’t just assume that the visitor will be able to find the answers. You want to ensure everything is easily accessible. Once you’ve done this, provide a solution to the problems you uncovered. Not only will this increase conversions across your site, but it will also make it more user-friendly.
A marketing funnel with social networking helps your business become the first item a customer sees when searching for a product online. At the top of the marketing funnel, you accumulate "followers" across all online social platforms. Next in the marketing funnel, you could talk to 20 of your top customers and monitor their social conversations to become aware of opinions about your brand. As you optimize your business on search engines, customers see your business first when searching for your product, which may trigger a sale at the end of the funnel.
Solution: My book Homestead Cooking with Carol: Bountiful Make-ahead Meals shows the busy homesteading homemaker how to prepare her food at harvest time so that she spends less time making supper the rest of the year. It shows her how to prepare simple, healthy foods that do not require a culinary degree for those nights when she lacks the energy to chop, braise, caramelize, or glaze.
Buyers/Wholesalers/Distributors, etc. are those who pay for the goods. Instead of running a service for the Manufacturers, why don’t you flip the coin and offer a service to the buyers to find/source Manufacturers? It seems more reasonable to charge the buyer a small commission, as he gets the service.. (they pay for the goods)..instead of the Supplier?
Deep learning—or artificial intelligence—are rapidly becoming a crucial force in marketing. After all, most websites sell a vast number of products; being able to recommend just the right item to a customer is a skill. In some ways, this is the most crucial piece lost when retail transactions move from the brick and mortar store to the web storefront.
This is a method I developed when I first began selling to overcome fears of being rejected. Reach out to 100 customers as fast as you can. You don’t really care about your sales results, only the number of people you contact. You will become fearless when selling your product. You can read more about the 100 Calls Method from this blog where I go into detail.
A customer is made aware of the product through Marketing and advertising campaigns, consumer research and discovery. The awareness is followed by gathering information in some form from him. This process of gathering information is called lead generation and the information is further used in the lead management system to nurture it down the system.

By harnessing the power of social media, getting people to share your content, you can take advantage of the legitimacy of “word-of-mouth” that traditional advertising often lacks. Share your content with relevant communities on social media, chat with like-minded individuals and provide solutions to issues within and surrounding your industry to reflect your expertise. Building a presence on social media is all about giving your audience value. What could you provide more information on that would add value to your audience’s perception of your brand?
Intent: To get to the intent stage, prospects must demonstrate that they are interested in buying a brand’s product. This can happen in a survey, after a product demo, or when a product is placed in the shopping cart on an ecommerce website. This is an opportunity for marketers to make a strong case for why their product is the best choice for a buyer.
This may be surprising to some of you, as many people assume you’re better off offering as many products as possible on your homepage to give your visitors a range of options. Entrepreneur, however, suggests that offering fewer products on your page with more text describing a specific topic will actually increase overall sales. This works because it allows your company to focus in on one or two specific products and answer any possible questions visitors may have.
I’m a financial planner and my biggest issue is trying to position that the urgency of the problem is now even though the consequences of now might not be seen for a long time. Most people think they can get by without life insurance until they have an insurable event, and that they can get by spending all of their money now instead of saving and investing over a long period of time until that is also too late and they are scrambling around trying to find a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow investment to save them from what they have / haven’t done many years before. It is also hard to position the value of my fees right now as my value is seen many years from now as they start progressing financially and are somewhat protected against poor decisions now and and giving themselves the highest probablility of success when all they can see right now is more expenses.
Address concerns. When you have a product or service that can change someone’s life, you have to listen and address any doubt or hesitation they might. Listen to your customers' concerns as they consider buying from you. What are your most frequently asked questions? Can you use the feedback to make your product (and also your pitch) even stronger?
My solution: my partner and I provide these entrepreneurs with low cost graphic design, website creation, and SEO services to help establish and/or improve their online presence. We also offer different package deals where prospects can get even more bang for their buck. By outsourcing these tasks to us (without costing them an arm and a leg), they can better invest their time in their business.
Facebook is particularly good at capturing these leads, thanks to its targeting options. You can narrow down on users based on their demographic info, interests, online behaviour and previous purchases. AdWords also has a role to play here, letting you target lower-intent searches like “how often should I audit my website?” and getting these users involved with your brand.
Big Problem: People don’t know how to effectively mine the hidden marketing assets they already have paid to develop in their business, especially their customer list and past customer list. (Not a problem for online marketers, but a Big Problem for many companies whether they sell a product or a service. You would be shocked at how many companies miss this opportunity.)
There’s a better solution: Build out an automated email follow-up campaign that speaks directly to this objection. Any time you encounter this problem, you can send that prospect information that seems designed just for them. A multi-month educational campaign may reduce their content anxiety and nurture them toward a sale. Yes, it’s work up front, but once finished, this campaign will work for you always.
The central thesis is a dichotomy between two modes of thought: "System 1" is fast, instinctive and emotional; "System 2" is slower, more deliberative, and more logical. The book delineates cognitive biases associated with each type of thinking, starting with Kahneman's own research on loss aversion. From framing choices to people's tendency to replace a difficult question with one which is easy to answer, the book highlights several decades of academic research to suggest that people place too much confidence in human judgment.[not verified in body]
Imagine any online shopping portal, for instance. Several hundreds of people like you visit the website every day, rather every hour. You view products and choose among innumerable options. This is followed by adding items of your choice to their virtual shopping carts. Not all visitors to the site buy the products from here. Some might make inquiries; some might browse through a different site and land up buying the product somewhere else. The platform which was open to act as a magnet for millions now gradually funnels its way through different steps into achieving profits from few by selling its items away.
If the browser can immediately determine the height and/or width of your images and tables, it will be able to display a web page without having to reflow the content. This not only speeds the display of the page but prevents annoying changes in a page's layout when the page completes loading. For this reason, height and width should be specified for images, whenever possible.
Women who want to start their own business online but feel overwhelmed on where to focus or stuck in indecision. They don’t have clients, a marketing plan, and aren’t clear about what they offer yet they spend months watching free training, getting business cards or perfecting their website. They need a plan and to know where and what to focus their energy on.

Your site kind of does the same thing, suggesting that a person’s “e-course sucks.” You actually did what Derek said and state a problem there, but same thing, I could be offended that I’m told my e-course sucks or that my art is boring too. I’m not sure I like stating the problem now. I like how people just see my course idea and get enlightened, there’s no “problems” or put-downs, there’s just new ideas that get one happy and thinking about the possibilities.

The marketing funnel is a conceptualization of the steps describing the sales process from start to finish. The term funnel is used to represent the path your audience takes to a buy, with some leaving this trail, deciding not to buy, and others continuing all the way to the checkout. The funnel reflects the narrowing of your potential leads down to the most promising ones over this journey.

Just found your post in my study of sales funnels. You bring the heart to it. This is really the missing link to online success. Thank you for explaining it so easily. Am not compelled to download the free traffic course because I can imagine the quality of info it would have not to mention returning to the site to have my buffer on other interesting content. Thanks.
Keep in mind that your work is never done. Your mobile site is never too fast, and your customers will never come flocking to you when you shave off just a little of your loading time. Keep working on it. Now, tomorrow and next month. If possible, try to automate your PageSpeed Insights testing, so you get regular updates. Follow the news to see if there are new ways to speed up your site.

Depending on your business and industry, you could have 1,000 prospects at the top of your funnel. However, towards the end of your funnel, you may have 25 prospects. While these 25 prospects are more likely to convert than the ones at the top of the sales funnel, at the very end, there may only be five customers who’ve made a purchase and only two that are repeat customers.

Solution: I will offer a solution or 30 days program where people can systematically unplug from the system through technologies (heart rate variability, isolation tank) and healthy diet (I’ve successfully helped my best friend lose 60lbs through the bulletproof diet ala Dave Asprey), meditation, mindsets (gratitude) and introspecting questioning that will help them be happy again. My program will also help them get back on the right track in life. It may not solve all of their problems, but will start making them asking the right question, and start living a happy life.

Competition for online business success is just as intense if only a bit less violent. The fight for customer attention boils down to delivering the requested content most efficiently and accurately, irrespective of the company size and past laurels. And just like human blunders and ignorance dictating the outcome of the Trojan War, common mistakes killing website performance tend to determine the outcome of online business competition – fastest to the finish line wins the race!
The technology has come a long way in improving internet experience. The over-crowded cyberworld of the 1990s was often labeled as the World Wide Wait, but innovations in communication and networking technologies have revolutionized the way digital information is transmitted across the internet. The next generation of online businesses have all the resources they need to deliver content instantaneously, but to leverage and complement these resources, businesses need speed-optimized websites that deliver the best user experience.

Solution: I offer customized, personalized healing programs that address the root causes of their illness. These programs include extensive nutritional counseling and coaching, functional diagnostic labs, personalized and focused nutraceutical therapy, comprehensive detoxification therapy, lifestyle education and coaching and, if they roll that way, spiritual mentoring.
As an equipment owner, maintenance manager or mechanic, disposable filters and funnels are your best first line of defense against dirt and contamination entering your equipment. If you use a reusable plastic, metal or gooseneck funnel, all of your attention to cleanliness is wasted. Wipe your reusable funnel with a clean shop towel and you’ll see. Using clean lubricant for post assembly fills, top offs or service oil changes, poured through a Fast Funnel or Fast Filter, is essential.

Abrasive airborne dirt and shop debris, and unwanted fluid remnants will be washed into your engine, gearbox, transmission, differential, etc. when using a shop funnel. The end result is accelerated component wear, reduced lubricant service life, decreased oil filter service life and erroneous oil analysis results. No matter how sophisticated your maintenance program is, all of it can be destroyed by a dirty shop funnel.
Interest: Once leads are generated, they move on to the interest stage, where they learn more about the company, its products, and any helpful information and research it provides. Here is an opportunity for brands to develop a relationship with the people in its lead database and introduce its positioning. Marketers can nurture leads through emails, content that is more targeted around industries and brands, classes, newsletters, and more.
Here, I’ll explain what you need to know about the marketing funnel, and I’ll dive into recent changes and rising challenges for marketers. I’ll compare B2C and B2B uses of the funnel, break down the hype around the marketing vs. sales ownership debate, explain how the funnel can be flipped to create more leads, and explore nonlinear approaches to the funnel.

Should you panic about your load time affecting your Google rankings? The great Matt Cutts says no – that it’s just one of over 200 signals they use in determining rank. But that’s not to say you should put it off either. Optimizing your page load time is a smart thing to do to help visitors get where they’re going faster, and it’s a better use of your time than obsessively tweaking your meta-tags. According to a recent post on SEOmoz, while site speed is a new signal, it doesn’t carry as much weight as the relevance of a page. Currently, fewer than 1% of search queries are affected by the site speed signal.
I can see that Optimizely is using a simple landing page with a 15-minute demo for the conversion. I could model this for my campaign. You can also set up alerts in SEMrush to get notified when a competitor changes the landing page. If you see a competitor using the same page for extended periods of time, it could indicate a high-converting template you should be replicating. Eliminate the guesswork 🙂
One important warning: Let’s not forget that you are in business. And as a business owner you have something of value to offer your customers in exchange for their cash. That’s a fair and equitable relationship. So please don’t take my nurturing metaphor too far here. Your goal isn’t simply to placate your list — your goal is to build a profitable business that provides VALUE in exchange for VALUE.
Once these standards are agreed upon and implemented, any page that conforms to them could appear in the Top Stories carousel, the Google news feed on Android, and even get the same little blue lightning bolt badge that appears next to AMP-supported results in search. These pages will not be guaranteed better placement in search results, however — just as AMP doesn’t guarantee search placement today. “The things you need to do in order to rank well in search will continue to be there and we will continue to not tell you what they are,” Besbris jokes.
